Expansion Approved!

Hi everyone! Sorry for not posting in a while, with school, APs, and SATs occurring, I've been a little preoccupied! However, I am super excited to announce that the Del Mar Parks and Rec committee has approved our expansion plan, and we are in the final stages of this process. I am hoping to install a chess table in our native garden and allow the community to enjoy the ambiance. Whether it's playing a game of chess or simply enjoying lunch, this new addition will enhance our garden. I plan on following a design similar to the land we have already rehabilitated, incorporating soil mounds, native plants, and possibly even boulders. I believe this area of land will flourish! My goal is to have it implemented by the winter of 2023 so that the native plants can thrive off the rain.

Speaking of rain, with the surplus rainfall we've received this winter/spring, our garden is greener than ever! However, along with the lush growth, we're dealing with the infestation of many non-native plants. It's pretty hectic at the moment! To address this issue, I'm organizing an event later this month for our community to come together and help remove these invasive plants (more details soon). The rapid growth of these non-native plants poses a threat to the biodiversity of our adopt-a-spot. They compete with native plants for resources and disrupt the delicate balance of our ecosystem. Taking action now is crucial to protect the health and beauty of our garden. I hope to see many of you there!

I want to emphasize that none of this would be possible without the support of our community. I'd like to extend a special thank you to the Del Mar Parks and Rec committee for their ongoing support and assistance with this project. I'd also like to express my gratitude to the 40 Trees for 40 Years of Del Mar program for their support and offer to provide us with Torrey trees! It's amazing to be in communication with such wonderful programs, and I'm grateful for all the support I've received.
